Netflix announced the premiere of ‘Matchday’ in Canada, in addition to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and other Latin American countries. The documentary series, created by Barça Studios, lasts eight 45-minute episodes and includes unpublished images of the FC Barcelona players daily lives.
The series focuses on eight football matches considered ‘key’ that the club, played during the 2018/2019 season. ‘TV cameras had unprecedented access to the team’s room to record everyday moments from players such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Marc-André ter Stegen, Gerard Pique, Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal’, Netflix described about its new launch in the region.
‘Matchday’ was launched last November 29th in Japan and Europe through Rakuten TV, a platform that has the series broadcasting rights in Asia-Pacific and the US. FC Barcelona holds them for Canada, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. The series is produced by Barça Studios, which currently centralizes all the creation, production and marketing of FC Barcelona’s audiovisual content and is already working on the second season of the series. ‘Matchday’ was produced together with Kosmos Studios and Producciones del Barrio.
